Through in-home visits and our Design Experience Profile, we explore how you live in your home and determine how best to complement your lifestyle through ambiance and functionality. From here, we redesign every inch of your home, kitchen or bath, which includes custom-creating the right cabinets, choosing the best appliances, installing a fitting floor and coordinating the countertops, furniture and accessories. We even select finishing touches like area rugs, window coverings, choice fabrics and flattering lighting, all available from William Standen™. Finally, using our state-of-the-art software, we provide 3D, photorealistic renderings of your space to help you visualize the design as it develops.

Our line of Canadian-made, solid wood dining furniture will add your personality and a touch of luxury to your space. Our designers will work with you hand-in-hand to choose the right wood, stain, cushion, fabric and details to create the right pieces for you. We offer custom tables in materials such as concrete, metal, live-edge wood, quartz and glass so that your space is as unique as you are. When our designers work with our in-house metal artists, award-winning carpenters and expert finishers, furniture magic happens.
Finding the right piece of art for your space can be a daunting task. The right colours, size, thickness and how the piece of art will display and be illuminated will all be taken into account when working with our team. We will put the finishing touches on your interior space with our lines of ready-made, custom and original artwork
As part of our line of curated home goods, we offer hundreds of designer area rugs. From wool to silk, and environmentally friendly materials and dyes, our designers will complete your interior with a rug perfectly paired to your other decor and furniture. A splash of colour or naturally neutral, our selection is like no other.
If you're looking for an out-of-the-box space, we have you covered. From cladding your interior walls with quartz, concrete, hand-printed wallpaper or custom artistic murals, our designers ensure that your walls will bring your home to life.
Our design studio hosts hundreds of fabric options for our custom draperies and window coverings. From roman shades to curtains, we will design and manufacture the right pieces for your windows and home. Our California-style shutters are made in Canada and our fabric window treatments are crafted locally. You will be able to work with our designers and choose from the highest quality silks, velvets and an array of fabrics and patterns.
We understand that taking the plunge on purchasing custom furniture, area rugs, window coverings and fixtures is an investment in the comfort of your living space. We offer realistic, in-colour renderings and video walkthroughs of your interior or home so that you can see your space before making your purchases.
Once our team has designed your custom sofa or chair, or you've chosen your home decor and artwork from our line of curated home goods, we will handle delivery and installation in the Sarnia and London area as well, making your purchase hassle-free.

This is the beginning of a beautiful thing. At this level, no structural alterations are made to your home, but these redesigns may include things like new fixtures, tiling and countertops. Your space is reinvigorated with simple and elegant surface changes.

Experience more than just an upgrade. At this level, your space receives a full, stunning makeover. From dazzling lighting and cabinetry to new furniture and high-end appliances, your space will be truly transformed.
Recreate
Get ready for a stunning reveal. At this level, your space is completely redesigned from floor to ceiling, including strategic structural changes, and finished with new cabinetry, flooring, appliances, furniture and lighting, including products carried in our luxurious line of curated home goods.
We are LOVING our new home. The layout has allowed for many parties already. I have never considered myself an entertainer but our new home is perfect for any occasion we have held. Someone told me recently that they couldn't understand why we would hire a designer but once they toured our home and saw the attention to even the smallest of details they were really impressed. My brother-in-law asked me if there was anything I would change now that we are living in the home. I told him without hesitation, ‘No! We source hardwood components from responsibly managed forests and our finishes, particleboard and plywood are free of added formaldehyde and other air pollutants, resulting in better indoor air quality in your home.

- Our cabinets are constructed using a low-VOC finish that is hand-applied to eliminate waste

FAQs
What’s the difference between interior design and decorating?
Many people use the terms “interior design” and “interior decorating” interchangeably, but these differ in important ways.
Interior design is the art and science of creating functional spaces within a building that take into account people’s needs, habits and behaviours. In contrast, interior decoration is the furnishing or adorning of a space with fashionable or beautiful things.
Interior designers apply creative and technical solutions that are both functional and attractive. The goal is to enhance the quality of life for those that use or live in the space.
Does William Standen Co. offer decorating?
Yes. When doing an entire project with William Standen Co., our designers work with clients to choose finishes and materials such as flooring, draperies, cabinetry selections, appliances, wall treatments and more.
Why work with a qualified designer?
There is a significant difference between a layout and a design. An individual can claim that they are a designer and may be able to produce a room, kitchen or bathroom layout, but may not provide the best design in relation to human ergonomics, building codes, overall functionality and look. They may also not adequately address structural and mechanical issues.
A qualified designer will:
- Have comprehensive knowledge in kitchen and bath design, construction, as well as mechanical, plumbing and electrical systems
- Adhere to a strict code of professional conduct, regulated by the association
- Be an expert in the Kitchen & Bath Planning Guidelines & Access Standards, which recognizes the importance of consumer health, safety, and welfare in kitchen and bath design
- Remain current on local building codes, safety and environmental regulations and the wealth of new products and equipment on the market
